Volunteer with us!

Field Trips Volunteer/Intern

From April - June and October - November, pre-K to 4th graders from the Ithaca City School District tour our farm, get their hands dirty in the soil, observe chicken behavior, and explore life inside the compost pile. Throughout the day students learn about the importance of food justice and stereotypes, race, and gender in farming all with the instruction and guidance of the facilitator. This could be you! To learn more about becoming a field trip facilitator volunteer this Spring, click here to see a detailed position description and submit this interest form. We would love to have you!

Farm Volunteer/Intern

During the growing season, the vegetables need a lot of hands to tend to them. From planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting to any other pressing farm tasks, there is lots to do! Do you love getting your hands dirty, basking in the sun, working with others, and watching beautiful vegetables grow before your eyes? Volunteer or intern with us!

Office Intern

On-going. Assist in the Youth Farm Project office with tasks including managing donor database, fundraising events and campaigns, data collection and analysis and creating reports. There is a large variety of tasks that take place in a small not-for-profit office, and much of the work is a series of short-term projects. We welcome someone with strong excel skills. Social media savvy is also appreciated, as are basic graphic design skills.  Experience in MailChimp and Instagram a plus. The hours of this position are flexible, with some opportunity to work from home.

Fresh Snack Program Intern

You will have the choice of spending your time on 1) working directly with children, teaching them important and fun lessons having to do with nutrition and food justice, 2) researching grant opportunities to support and expand the Fresh Snack Program in existing and new schools, 3) transporting buckets of snack from the Greenstar Co-op warehouse to Boynton Middle School cafeteria once per week so that snack can be delivered to schools on time for student consumption, and/or 4) performing an array of research projects including but not limited to expanding our list of nutrition facts we share with teachers and students on a weekly basis, survey data collation, local and regional food security data and other pieces of information that support the aims of our program and grant goals.
Fill out the form below to be considered for your desired position. Once we have  reviewed your interest form, we will contact you for further screening.
*Farm volunteers accepted on a rolling basis.
