Our Work & Purpose

Mission

Our mission is to empower youth from diverse social and economic backgrounds as integral participants in building equitable local food communities.

YFP is dedicated to healing our food system through an anti-racist organizing lens by bringing together youth from diverse backgrounds to explore environmental and social injustice within the food system.

We believe that through critical thinking and openly learning about these issues, we can begin the healing of our food system, the earth, and ourselves. By developing leadership and communication skills with young people and having them participate in all aspects of food production and farming – from planting to harvesting and distributing, we can increase our unity and hope for positive change in our community and beyond.

The farm is a place where playfulness, laughter, healing and strength are developed. A beautiful farm that sparks comfort and harmonious feelings of abundance. A place where the community gathers and cultivates an expansive sense of agency to humbly do our parts.

We are Farmers

The farm yielded over 5.5 tons of produce in 2018! That's a lot of food! We grow collaboratively with the help of our programs, volunteers, and community groups. It is the distributed throughout our community and schools!

Learners

We had over 1200 elementary students visit the farm in 2018! Every child that visits the farm eats a snack from the fields, learns about age appropriate social justice, honors Native Peoples, explores the farm, and PLAYS!

Community builders

The number and reach of our programs have increased tremendously this past year! We are growing food, side by side with youth, and getting to people who need it. Your support has been the foundation of our success thus far and we would not be where we are today without you! Right now, your support is critical to continue the breadth, depth, and high quality of our program. Please make a donation today!
